は20世紀後半の黒人公民権運動の高まりを受けて、南北戦争と奴隷解放に偏重した作品解釈が続いてきた。しかし Huckleberry Finn は、これまで一切触れられてこなかったが、米墨戦争の真っただ中にあった。米墨戦争は、アメリカによるメキシコへの侵略戦争であり、米兵による戦争犯罪も多く記録されていることから、歴史および文学研究では黙殺される傾向にあり、本作品との関係性すら認識されてこなかった。そこで本論では、封印されてきた米墨戦争という視点から Adventures of Huckleberry Finn
