These songs are called the Dong folk songs handed down from generation to generation, which is a mirror of history and culture of the Dong ethnic minority groups in China.\nMost of the Dong folk songs are about tragic or touching love stories. “Playing in Mountains” and “Enjoy Moonlight” are typical and traditional matching activities for the young to show their love to each other by singing songs.\nThe melodies of the southern Dong fork songs are different from the northern ones due to dialectal and natural or ecological and geographical diversities.\nIn the past, the singers sang these songs just for fun without thinking of getting paid.\nNowadays, the master folk singers sometimes sing for earning money. Many people take part in singing contests and such new chatting software as QQ and Wechat are also employed by people to sing songs to each other.  However, the middle aged and the elder singers are still the majority.
